February 18th was our birthday! Six years, and still going strong! The show launched on February 18th, 2019 during the ACDA national conference in Kansas City. Kantorei KC was a featured performer in two different concerts, so I pre-recorded some episodes, and dropped an ad in the program. Six years later, here we are!

Winter weather, but it’s warm on the podcast!
Episode 233 features Dr. Ryan Luhrs giving some scholarly insights into one of my passion topics. Choral music making as the PERFECT laboratory for resolving group conflict and reconciliation. Dr. Luhrs had written a great article for the Choral Journal about Intergroup Contact Theory, which made for a fascinating discussion.
Next up, in Episode 234, Anthony Blake Clark and I discuss some of the unique rehearsal challenges that occur in large choirs, as well as an empassioned advocacy for the “Symphony Chorus.” Blake argues that we should see this, rather than the College Choir as the pinnacle of a singer’s journey.
Episode 235 welcomes back Donald Brinegar to the show for the third time. His past episodes on intonation and pitch matching have been audience favorites. This time will be no different as we discuss the TECHNIQUE of expressive singing.

Finally, Cindy Ellis is making a splash on episode 236 explaining how she starts 6th graders off with theory, ear training and tone development and continues that scaffolding until they become the INCREDIBLE high school singers you will hear next month in Dallas at National ACDA.

A video message for you about our 6th anniversary!
