Summer is heating up on the show! As July rolls around, I start to get restless. I am in vacation mode for sure, but I want to be READY for those kids and adults in August. My favorite part about doing this show for you all is that it keeps me connected to you and Choral Music year round. I am also excited to welcome a NEW Show Partner in Kaleidescope Adventures, as well as a new affiliate Three Minute Theory which now has a 15% Choralosophy coupon code!! You can see ALL of the amazing organizations that support this show at Choralosophy.com/show-sponsors
Episode 202 reached the largest audience since my Covid expert episodes during the pandemic. But, I am not necessarily happy about that… Michal Dawson Connor joins me to tell a tragic story of how his Progressive Church in Pasadena, CA stopped allowing the performance of music from the African American tradition. In Episode 201, I had a fascinating conversation that music professionals and amateurs would appreciate with Cognitive Scientist Mark Changizi. We discussed his book “Harnessed” which makes a compelling argument for WHY we can even understand music in the first place from an evolutionary perspective.
Donald Nally of The Crossing joined me in Episode 203 to discuss programming philosophy, as well as the inner work that conductors must go through in order to reach their artistic potential. Most recently, in Episode 204 I published a curated highlights episode from a free PD session I offered on topics like music literacy instruction, leveled classes and more. I was joined by 40 listeners and colleagues. I published the full session on Patreon.
I hope you will drop YOUR personal favorites in the comments! I would also love to hear what you want to hear about in 2024! You can also apply to appear on the show to discuss your passion points at Choralosophy.com
