Happy New Year! I hope 2024 is a great year for all of us! On the show, I have some exciting things in store for you. Patreon members will continue to get sneak peaks and a chance to weigh in with questions in advance! Due to the craziness of Christmas, I usually create a bit less content in December. But, the episodes that went on the feed were good ones! If you missed them, be sure to get caught up!
Episode 177 was Dr. Anthony Trecek-King and I discussing his approaches to a “skills-based pedagogy” that he calls, “Teach Skills, Not Songs.” We will also had a great talk about his approach to having social justice oriented conversations in choral classrooms. This episode is a MUST.
In episode 178 I asked, “What the heck is going on with choir people?!” December brought some pretty fiery online exchanges around some recent controversies related to social justice. I found the timing of this in coinciding with the previous episode fascinating. It seems not enough people had listened… But, I also saw some underlying philosophical divides that as always, don’t get discussed. So, I discuss them in 178.
The final episode of 2023 is a short one discussing YOUR favorite episodes of 2023. Episode 179 includes clips from each of the year’s audience favorites.
The Top 10 of 2023
