It’s April, so I kicked off the month with an April fools joke! Don’t be afraid, Choralosophy is not going anywhere! Be sure to check the Instagram for the April Fools humor! March was exciting, on the show and, as promised, right here on Substack. We launched the first two Choralosophy Community Blogs with contributors
and “an anonymous Music Ed Professor.” On the podcast we covered some crucial and relevant teacher focused topics which will be summarized and linked below. Patreon members will continue to get sneak peaks and a chance to weigh in with questions in advance! We also FINALLY launched a merchandise store!Episode 189 was a dialogue generated from a viral social media post about the “kids these days” and what many perceive as a diminishing work ethic and approach to education by modern students. Jonathan Talberg joined me for a very helpful perspective from the Higher Ed perspective about ways to approach students with unwaveringly high standards, as well as a compassion for their place on the journey. Episode 190 was a promised follow up to last month’s Episode 188 on the Male changing voice. Dr. Bridget Sweet joined me in an episode that made a big splash. Because of the quality of the information presented, as well as the perceived gap from our colleagues in helpful dialogue about the Female changing voice.
Episode 191 welcomes Shanan Estreicher from Queens, NY. This episode is an inspiring human interest story of sorts. Mr. Estreicher is a songwriter, composer and teacher who works in a Title 1 school in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the world. In what ways can music bridge gaps between students and their school, as well as cultural and language barriers BETWEEN students?
I hope you will drop YOUR personal favorites in the comments! I would also love to hear what you want to hear about in 2024! You can also apply to appear on the show to discuss your passion points at Choralosophy.com
